SELF-DEFENSELESS ON YOUR OWN LAND: Gun Rights Group Is Asking For Public Support Of Amendment To Repeal Gun Ban
Image The Omnibus Public Land Act (H.R. 146) and its supporters seem to have a problem taking, “no” for an answer. The bill, known as “The Land Bill” dramatically increases the amount of government land that would forbid guns for anything other than hunting, including self-defense. It recently failed to pass the house but it’s back. Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America is calling for the support of an amendment that would repeal the ban. That amendment heads to the floor of the House on March 25th. Pratt’s group points to an attempt by proponents of the bill to garner support by adding an exception to the bill that would permit hunters to carry guns on the land that would fall under the ban. “Our founding fathers didn’t have the protection of hunting... BACK ROOM DEALS GIVE GUN BAN LAW NEW LIFE: After Pressure From Gun Rights Group Helps Bill Get Pulled, Insignificant Changes Bring It Back For Vote
Image Lately, it seems like every time voters speak loud enough to prevent a bill from passing, it gets new life because Congress is insistent that they know better. Senate Bill (S22) is no different. Known as the “Land Bill”, its passage is going to be attempted with the same tactics. Executive Director of Gunowners of America (GOA), Larry Pratt is calling attention to a Senate Bill (S22) that appears to be even another way to skin that cat – by expanding the amount of land owned by the government that already has a strict gun ban. STATEMENT FROM GOA GUN RIGHTS & STIMULUS BILL Remember the massive land bill, S. 22, that passed out of the Senate last month? It was expected to pass quickly in the House, but your opposition to an expansion of gun control contained in the bill... More Details...

GUN RIGHTS AT RISK AGAIN IN DC
Image Two questions loom large in the heart and minds of 2nd Amendment rights supporters: 1) I the District of Columbia is granted voting rights in Congress, who will their representative vote with regard to gun rights? 2) Will House leaders pull off their ‘coupe’ attempt to strip the D.C. gun ban repeal from the DC voting rights bill The bad news is that supporters of the bill to give the District of Columbia a full voting member to the House of Representatives are ramping up pressure to pass the bill without an amendment to repeal the District’s draconian gun control laws. Good news is that the lobbying organization DC Vote and its congressional allies have targeted 60 Democrats who hail from rural areas where gun rights support runs strong in hopes of picking up the 28... GUN RIGHTS VICTORY IN SENATE! But another Challenge Looms
Image By a resounding vote of 62 to 36 last week, the U.S. Senate has approved an amendment, offered by Senator John Ensign of Nevada, to repeal the D.C. gun ban. Congratulations to all the 2nd Amendment advocates who worked hard and long in this battle. So, now it’s time for a long, well deserved rest. Right? “Not quite,” says Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America. During your Talk Show interview with Larry, he shares with your audience that the battle is not over. This week, the House will take up the D.C. voting legislation. And anti-gun Speaker Nancy Pelosi is angling to impose a "gag rule" on the House, so that D.C. gets its unconstitutional representative, while continuing its draconian anti-gun laws (like micro-stamping). Said Pratt, “Here's the... More Details...

STIMULUS BILL A DISTRACTION FROM SENATE BILL RESTRICTING GUN RIGHTS: Bill Includes Expansion Of Government Land Ownership Already Under Strict Gun Ban
Image Whether it’s requiring gun owners to register their guns in a national database, restricting ammunition, or banning guns altogether, if you think gun control advocates don’t believe in the motto, “more than one way to skin a cat”, maybe the latest bill coming from the Senate may change your mind. Executive Director of Gunowners of America (GOA), Larry Pratt is calling attention to a Senate Bill (S22) that appears to be even another way to skin that cat – by expanding the amount of land owned by the government that already has a strict gun ban. STATEMENT FROM GOA GUN RIGHTS & STIMULUS BILL Lost in all the news of the massive bailout bill that just passed the Senate is another enormous bill, one that increases federal control of public and private land. Of particular concern... More Details...

DOES DEPUTY ATTY GEN PICK INDICATE A SADDLEBACK ‘TAKE BACK’? President Of Morality In Media Concerned This Appointment Doesn’t Square With Earlier Promises
Image NEW YORK (Feb. 4, 2009) – The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled hearings tomorrow to examine the nomination of David Ogden, President Obama’s choice for Deputy Attorney General. Mr. Ogden has a long history of making “ACLU-minded” arguments in court cases involving obscene materials, harmful-to-minors materials, and child pornography. Morality in Media President Robert Peters is available for interviews to discuss this nomination. During the 2008 Presidential campaign, then candidate Obama said (Saddleback Presidential Forum, 08/16/08) that curbing human trafficking must be “a top priority” and also said (“The Candidates on Faith,” Time, 08/07/08) that there are a “range of moral-values issues that must be addressed in our families, our communities…But we can't... A ‘RUSH’ TO OPPRESS: Congressman Introduces Controversial Gun-Control Bill
Image One day into the 111th session of Congress was all it took for Illinois Democrat and former Black Panther, Bobby Rush, to take a run on a new measure of gun control. Problem is, quite a few don’t like the language—in particular, the part about “anyone wishing to purchase, own or possess a ‘qualifying firearm’ would have to be licensed by the state or the federal government in a licensing program managed by the Attorney General.” “I might be a gun rights advocate,” says Larry Pratt, the Executive Director of the Gun Owners of America, “but anyone with any sense, or any respect for the Constitution at all, has to bristle at proposed legislation that wants to place our Bill of Rights in the hands of one man.” Pratt is available for interviews to comment on this political... GOA CALLS ON SENATORS TO VOTE ‘NO’ ON ERIC HOLDER CONFIRMATION: Leader Of Large Gun Rights Organization Hopes To Capitalize On Unanimous House Vote
Image On Monday, Barack Obama’s nomination for Attorney General, Eric Holder, is expected to go to the Senate floor after the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to approve the nomination. Executive Director of Gunowners of America (GOA), Larry Pratt is lobbying gun rights advocates to contact their Senators in an effort to prevent full confirmation. After seeing every Republican congressman in the House unite against the economic stimulus bill, Pratt sees no reason why Republican Senators can’t do the same thing with this nomination. STATEMENT FROM GOA ON ERIC HOLDER It was a disappointing result, to be sure. The Senate Judiciary Committee passed the nomination of Eric Holder yesterday by a 17-2 vote. Only Senators Tom Coburn (R-OK) and John Cornyn (R-TX) voted against the... More Details...

OBAMA CHOICE FOR ATTY GENERAL NO FAN OF SECOND AMENDMENT: Gun Owners Of America Opposing This Nomination Strongly And Publicly
Image Based on past statements and positions, gun owners are very concerned about what the upcoming Barack Obama presidency will mean for 2nd Amendment protections. Executive Director of Gunowners of America (GOA), Larry Pratt is no exception. Of particular interest is Eric Holder, Barack Obama’s choice for Attorney General. As you can tell from the statement from GOA below, Pratt does not consider Holder to be in support of the second amendment. STATEMENT FROM GOA ON ERIC HOLDER Barack Obama is wasting no time poking a sharp stick in the eyes of gun owners. The incoming President's choice for U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, is an anti-gun extremist who has assailed gun owners since his days in the Bill Clinton administration. Holder, who served as Deputy Attorney General... More Details...
