ROMNEY BLOWING IT ON FAST AND FURIOUS: As President grants Amnesty to Mexicans in the name of compassion, Romney silent on administration's role in hundreds of DEAD Mexicans
While appearing on Face the Nation, Mitt Romney fumbled about in response to questions from Bob Schieffer about what Barack Obama's recently signed Executive Order that would grant amnesty to one million illegal Mexican aliens. The lawless Obama strategy appeared to be working flawlessly; it put Romney on his heels.
But it doesn't have to, according to Larry Pratt, Gun Owners of America (GOA) executive director, who who sees Romney blowing a golden opportunity to draw the starkests of contrasts. “Here we have a president who has decided to break the law to grant amnesty to at least one million illegal aliens, all in the name of compassion,” says Pratt. “Meanwhile, there are hundreds of innocent, and now dead Mexicans who met their fate as a direct result of Fast and Furious, and Romney is silent?!”
This is why the establishment's choice for the nomination is also the Obama campaign's choice. Pratt says that when opportunities present themselves to the play-it-safe Republicans, they'd rather not take them, fearing the loss of the independents. In reality, they're losing the support of those who want to see their nominee fight.
“We already know that Obama's Attorney General has lied under oath and stonewalled Congress for 18 months,” Pratt says, “Even if this scandal doesn't reach to the inner circle of the Obama administration (Pratt believes it does), the fact that Holder is still the Attorney General is incredibly damaging to the president.”
That is, if Romney can find the political courage to speak the truth about how little regard the Obama administration seems to have for Mexicans when Fast and Furious is factored into the equation instead of votes.
