WE HOLD(ER) YOU IN CONTEMPT! House finds Attorney General in Contempt of Congress for Withholding Documents

The House of Representatives found Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for refusing to release documents related to what caused a demonstrably false letter to be sent to Senator Charles Grassley on February 4, 2011. Though there were 19 Democrats who voted with the majority, more than 100 Democrats walked out of the chamber without casting a vote.

In a case of bizarre irony, and even excessive smugness, as the contempt vote was taking place, Holder was in Disneyworld, speaking to a left wing Hispanic group.

Larry Pratt, the executive director of the Gun Owners of America (GOA) is pleased with the outcome of the proceedings but says there is no basis – other than unadulterated partisanship – for the Democrats not to demand Holder's compliance

“Like never before, Democrats are simply ignoring facts to push their agenda,” Pratt said. “Here you have a demonstrably false letter sent by the Justice Department to a member of Congress and the Democrats ignore it.”

As for the question on most peoples' minds (what next?), that largely remains to be seen but by all accounts, unless there is a deafening public outcry to get these documents, it's headed to the Supreme Court, which wouldn't take up the matter until after the election.

“I don't know about you,” Pratt says, “but after the Supreme Court's ruling on Obamacare, the administration may not be sweating it all that much.”

Nonetheless, this is very much a battle worth fighting, says Pratt. “Let’s be clear: Operation Fast & Furious was all about the Obama administration’s attempt to make a case for gun control,” he said.
